Sunday Ramadhan Manara was born on November 23, 1952 on Kawawa Ujiji Road in Kigoma Region. He is the son of Mzee Rama, who was an employee of AMI TANZANIA LTD in Kigoma Port. He belongs to Manyema tribe.
Sunday Manara is the first Tanzanian to play professional football in Europe and he is the first Tanzanian to play in the same league with the World's Football Legend Edison Arantes Nascimento known as PELE.
Sunday Manara played for the SC Heracles club in Netherlands from December 1977 to July 1978 when he moved to SV St. Veit of Austria, New York Eagle of the United States and Al-Nasr of Dubai after previously playing for Yanga and Pan Africans of Dar es Salaam.
Currently he has retired from football, and he acts as a football advisor. He is the father of the very famous son known as Haji Manara, the former spokesman of Simba Sports Club and now works with Young Africans Sports Club (Yanga).
