TARURA ROAD PROJECTS IMPROVE ACCESS TO ESSENTIAL SERVICES IN NJOMBE

NJOMBE, TANZANIA
Residents of Njombe District are gaining easier access to essential social services and improving their daily transport activities as the Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) continues to upgrade key road infrastructure across the district.
TARURA Njombe District Manager, Eng. Costantine Ibengwe, said several road projects are currently being implemented to improve connectivity and facilitate the movement of people and goods within the area.
Among the projects is the construction of the 2.84-kilometre NBC–Kibena road to bitumen standard, which is expected to improve connectivity and ease transportation for residents using the route.
Another major project is the construction of a 31-metre stone bridge linking Mji Mwema and Ramadhani wards. According to Eng. Ibengwe, construction of the bridge has reached 70 per cent completion.
TARURA is also implementing the 1.5-kilometre Mama White road project, which has been upgraded to gravel standard. The road has already been completed and is currently open to traffic.
“Here in Njombe District, TARURA is implementing these projects to enable residents to travel more easily and carry out their daily activities without unnecessary difficulties,” Eng. Ibengwe said.
He explained that the Mama White road was constructed to improve access to the main Songea Road and the Regional Commissioner’s Office, as well as to make it easier for residents to reach Mji Mwema Health Centre.
